Elec Reid

Melbourne’s UniFi and smart technology specialists.

Quality work, clear communication, and a team flexible enough to handle the site in front of us.

Elec Reid designs and installs Ubiquiti UniFi networks, Wi-Fi, cameras, intercom, and access control across Melbourne, from family homes to offices, warehouses, and commercial facilities. Around that sits our smart technology work: automation, lighting control, AV, and home cinema, with the documentation that keeps a project moving.

We are licensed A-grade electricians, so the cabling, power, and compliance behind every system is handled properly. Electrical work is something we are capable of, but networks and automation are our focus. The standard is the same on every site: turn up, respond quickly, solve the problem properly, and leave the client with a system they understand and own outright.

Our philosophy

The architecture is the brief.

The systems should match the site. We design and install electrical and smart technology infrastructure for homes, commercial spaces, and industrial facilities. Every layer specified. Every cable documented. Every system commissioned before handover.

Architects and builders have told us our documentation is better than the architect’s drawings. That is the standard we hold.

Common questions

Before you call.

What does a UniFi installation cost in Melbourne?

As a guide: network and Wi-Fi from $4,000 to $10,000; a 6 to 8 camera UniFi Protect system from $4,000 to $8,500; intercom packages $1,500 to $2,500; a complete UniFi home typically $14,000 to $20,000 including GST. Commercial systems are scoped per site. See the full cost guide at /unifi/cost.

What areas of Melbourne do you service?

We work across Melbourne and surrounds. Most of our recent projects sit in Toorak, South Yarra, Brighton, Malvern, Malvern East, Glen Iris, Glen Waverley, Canterbury, Williamstown, Albert Park, Port Melbourne, Yarraville, St Kilda, the Mornington Peninsula, and Torquay. If you’re in greater Melbourne, ask us.

Do you do residential, commercial, and industrial?

Yes. One company, three divisions. We work on residential, commercial, and industrial projects across Melbourne. That includes homes, offices, venues, warehouses, facilities, and operational sites. The same A-grade licence, quality standard, and responsiveness carries across all three.

What smart home platforms do you specialise in?

Apple HomeKit, Control4, Basalte, Ekinex, Philips Dynalite, KNX, and Home Assistant. We’re the only Melbourne team built around Apple Home as the core layer, then we wrap commercial-grade platforms underneath when the project needs it. Networking is UniFi, security and intercom included.

How do I start a project?

Call +61 450 342 075 or use the project form on this site. We start with the site, the scope, the timeline, and what needs to happen next. From there we scope the work, recommend systems, and prepare a proper proposal.

Do you do small jobs or just full smart home installs?

We focus on full home design and integration projects, but we look after our existing clients for the smaller stuff too. If it’s a one-off socket on a house we’ve never seen before, we’re probably not the right fit.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Registered Electrical Contractor REC 35750. Public liability insurance, full compliance certification on every job, and we issue a Certificate of Electrical Safety on completion.
