4K footage on your own hardware, AI detections that actually work, and not a subscription in sight.

Every Protect camera records to the gateway in your rack — not to a company's cloud, not behind a monthly paywall. Weeks of continuous footage, viewable from anywhere, owned by you. If the internet drops, recording doesn't.
The AI detections are the quiet superpower. Protect distinguishes people, vehicles and packages on the camera itself — so your phone stays silent when a branch moves and speaks up when a person crosses the driveway at 2am. The G6 generation adds face and licence-plate recognition, on-device.
Compare that with doorbell-camera ecosystems: cloud-only storage, monthly fees forever, and footage that belongs to a subscription. We wrote up the full comparison in UniFi vs consumer gear.
Full specifications on ui.com. Installed pricing: G5 from ~$585, G6 from ~$950 on an existing UniFi network — see the cost guide.
| Camera | Resolution | What it's about | Where we spec it |
|---|---|---|---|
| G5 Turret / Bullet | 2K | The value pick. Excellent daytime and IR footage, smart detections, IP-rated for outdoors. Covers most general positions. | Side access, yards, general coverage |
| G6 Turret / Bullet | 4K | The new generation: larger sensor, stronger low light, and on-device AI including face and licence-plate recognition. Standard PoE. | Entries, driveways — anywhere detail matters |
| G6 PTZ | 4K | Motorised pan-tilt-zoom with dual lenses and AI tracking that follows people and vehicles automatically. One PTZ can do the work of two fixed cameras. | Large yards, sheds, acreage, car courts |
| G6 Pro 360 | 12MP fisheye | A single ceiling camera that captures the entire room in 360°, de-warped in Protect. | Warehouses, retail floors, garages |
| G6 Instant | 4K | The only wireless option in the family — same sensor, Wi-Fi connected. We use it sparingly, where cable genuinely cannot go. | Rentals, heritage fabric, temporary needs |
G6 at the positions where you'd want to read a face or a plate — front entry, driveway. G5 everywhere else. On a recent eight-camera home that split was two G6, six G5: the budget stays honest and the shots that matter are 4K.
A 4K camera at the wrong height gives you a 4K view of a hoodie. We position from the plan — height, angle, light direction — so footage identifies people rather than just counting them. That's the part no spec sheet fixes.
Send your site or floor plan. We'll come back with positions, models and a fixed price.
